1. Who we are

Brightbill is a solar lead-matching service. For the personal data described in this policy, Brightbill is the "data controller".

You can contact us about privacy at andy@bright-bill.co.uk.

2. What information we collect

Information you give us

When you complete our quote form, we collect: your name, email address, phone number, postcode, property type, roof/shading details, and approximate monthly electricity bill.

Information we collect automatically

When you use our site we may collect technical data such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view, and how you arrived at our site (including referral source and campaign/UTM tags).

3. How and why we use your information

We use your personal data to:

You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us (see section 7). Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out.

4. Who we share your information with

When you submit an enquiry and give your consent, we share your details with vetted, MCS-certified installers so they can contact you with a quote. Installers pay us for this introduction. Once your details are passed to an installer, that installer is a separate data controller and is responsible for how it uses your data under its own privacy policy.

We also share data with trusted service providers who help us run the business — for example website hosting, data storage and email delivery providers — who process data on our behalf under contract.

We may disclose information where required by law, regulation or a valid request from a public authority. We do not sell your personal data to unrelated third parties for their own marketing.

5. International transfers

Some of our service providers may store or process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we take steps to ensure your data is protected by an appropriate safeguard, such as a UK adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses.

6. How long we keep your information

We keep your enquiry data only as long as needed to provide the service and for our legitimate business and legal records — typically no longer than 24 months after your enquiry, unless a longer period is required by law. You can ask us to delete your data sooner (see below).

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to: access your data; have it corrected or deleted; restrict or object to its processing; data portability; and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email andy@bright-bill.co.uk and we will respond within one month.

8. Cookies

Our website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the site to function and to understand how our advertising performs. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

9. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your information once we receive it.

10. Children

Our service is intended for homeowners aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always appear on this page with the "last updated" date above.

12. Contact & complaints

If you have any questions or wish to make a complaint, please contact us first at andy@bright-bill.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the ICO at any time via ico.org.uk or by calling the ICO helpline.
